Men Of North Country - Debut

As part of their ongoing quest to deliver the best in worldwide soul music Acid Jazz Records have cast their net wide and come up with a fine slice of gothic northern soul.

Having expanded their search beyond the borders of the UK, their brand new recruits, Men Of North Country, hail from the exotic location of Tel Aviv. Their debut single showcases influences as diverse as The Jam, Orange Juice, Gloria Jones and Bauhaus, in an inventive combination that defines the fresh soul sound of tomorrow.

The young seven-piece emerged from Tel Aviv’s thriving soul scene, bringing with them a fresh approach to creating the perfect three-minute soul nugget.

The A-side, Man Of North Country, is an infectious northern soul stomper with haunting lyrics, backed by a fat brass section and a four-on-the-floor driving drumbeat that would not be out of place at the Wigan Casino. The flip, Debut, invokes Marc Almond coming to grips with The Jam’s A Town Called Malice. A future club classic.

With this single just a hint of things to come, make sure you don’t get left behind and that all points on your compass point to North! Out now.
